We have now had cold weather for nearly a month so we were keen to get to a warmer place. The weather forecast showed that that place was Adelaide. We drove along the Great Ocean Road which among other things features the Twelve Apostles and generally a very scenic coastal drive.

In Adelaide we found a very nice Caravan Park so we stayed there for a few days. The weather was also good with just below 40 deg. Activities in Adelaide includes: Exploring the city center, the beach and a good wine tour day-trip.

From Adelaide we went to Broken Hill. The heat here was horrible! At just below 50 deg. and hot winds it was very unpleasant. We went for a underground mine tour and made a quick visit to Silverton Hotel where a lot of commercials and a few movies has been shot. In this heat it was impossible to sleep so we hurried back towards the coast and Sydney.

In Dubbo we went to the Western Plains Zoo. It is a open range zoo with more than 1.100 animals from around the world, many of them endangered species. It is divided into five areas: Africa, Eurasia, North America, South America and Australia. The idea is then to drive your car around a big loop where you go through these areas. I saw quite a few animals that i had never seen before so that was good.

From Dubbo we drove through the Blue Mountains to Sydney. This marks the end of nearly 3 months of holiday. It is weird how you become less and less appreciative as you travel along. At first the sight of a kangaroo was very special in the end we barely noticed. The same goes for most other things. This is a good thing. Before we started we could not wait to head off. And in the end we could not wait to get home.
