When the weather finally cleared we continued from Launceston to The Nut in Stanley (north west). We went for a steep walk to the top.
We continued down the western part of Tasmania to Quenstown. Quenstown is an old mining town. It was sad to see how the mining industry had ruined all the forest and landscape around the town. When you drive towards Quenstown it is through nig forests for hundreds of kilometers. Then suddenly when you get close to Quenstown everything is dead! All the mountains are totally bare. A sad story...
Quenstown was so dead that we drove to Strahan for the night. Strahan is real holiday place and much more lively than poor Quenstown. From Strahan we drove through the Franklin - Gordon rivers National Park.
From there we headed back to Hobart for a tour of the Cadbury chocolate factory. It was reasonable exciting tour and the shop afterwards was worth it all! They had cheap factory rejects so we bought loads of chocolate.
We were now getting short on time in Tassie and had still not been in the Cradle Mountain area. Cradle was the last and probably most beautiful thing we did in Tassie. The area around there is simply stunning. Very varied from green tall forest to small scrubs.
Back in Melbourne we had an "appointment" with something called Gold Class at Village cinemas. You get your "own" little cinema with only 20 seats. The seats are the best of the best - better than most chairs i have seen! On top of that servants are always available if you need more popcorn, coke or food.
