The second day at Fraser Island was fantastic! We started with a visit to the Champagne Pools. The Champagne Pools are rock formations that make up small pools in the ocean. It is the only place on Fraser where it is safe to swin in the ocean. The water is always refreshed as waves breaks over the pool sides. It is amazing how hundreds of kilometers of sand beach suddenly is broken up by these beautiful rock formations.
Next stop was Eli Creek. On the way we stoped at the old ship wreck again and at a sand cliff formation called The Pinnacles. The Pinnacles are famous for the many varying colors in the cliffs.
Eli Creek was amazing! There is a walk way from the beach were it joins the ocean back up on the island. The idea is then to walk upstream and swim downstream in the perfectly clear water. That was really nice so we took a few swims here...
We ended the day with an inland drive towards the campground at Central Station. This impressive campground was like it was "carved" out of the dense rainforest surrounding it. Apart from the cicadas this was nice and peaceful place.
